It was an honour and pleasure to fit the NEW Gymnasium floor in the New Abbey CBS. This vast space is to be used for many sports activities and thus the undercarriage for the floor was very important. The floor was laser levelled on Junckers Unobat 62 system to achieve an excellent sports performance.
GFS sourced a perfect floor for the Architect and Client. The Boen Arenaflex Oak Floor with the sprung flex batten offers a floor that performs to the highest sports standards. The 700m2 floor was installed in 4 days therefore helping the builder to meet the tight programme deadlines that were set. GFS also applied new court markings to the main hall.
As you can see the floor needed refurbished and GFS were delighted to take on this challenge. The 450m2 sports hall was machine sanded and sealed with 3 coats of Granwax Sport 2K Sealer in 4 days, therefore allowing the centre to get the hall quickly reopened for their members. The court markings were applied to the floor 'out of hours' thus allowing the centre to stay open.
Our Client visited the showroom and after selecting several samples we visited the site to carry out a full measurement, take moisture readings and offer advice on the perfect floor to compliment this magnificent dwelling. We supplied and fitted 220m2 of 20mm Engineered Trusty Smoked and Brushed Oak, laid on 3mm comfort foam underlay. As you can see it turned out to be a fantastic job which complimented the fixtures and fittings.
This project was probably the most challenging to date. GFS manufactured a bespoke Merbau Panel with an American Black Walnut centre square. The panels took 2 weeks to manufacture, 3 days to fit and 2 nights to machine sand and seal with Granwax Granstone commercial grade sealer. The architect and client requested a top quality floor to raise the profile of the new bar and we believe we exceeded their expectations.
This was a ‘fast-track’ project requiring us to fit 200m2 20/6mm Reclaimed Engineered Oak Woodblock in 3 nights. The Oak is reclaimed from old railway sleepers therefore giving the desired look for the restaurant. We laid the flooring in herringbone pattern on the ground and first floor restaurants. We then buffed and applied Osmo Rapid Oil at night to seal the floor, and allow it to be open for the next morning. Another project completed to the satisfaction of the main contractor and client!
The solid Beech floor was badly in need of refurbishment and along with the Centre Manager, we produced a specification and programme that we believed would give the floor the longevity that was required along with the performance on site that allowed Delilites to stay open. We carried out the works through the night, always conscious of the restaurants early opening times. Another successful refurbishment by GFS.
Our client requested a design floor to suit the size and shape of their sun room and also to work with underfloor heating. We provided many samples so that we got the exact type and size of floor to suit the clients taste and needs – 20/6mm Engineered Smoked and Brushed European Oak. We then machined the boards out of engineered flooring and grooved the edges so that the floor would all fit together perfectly.
Another fast-track project required to be complete for mass on Saturday evening. The flooring is a commercial grade 12mm walnut, laid on silent rubber underlay to reduce noise within the chapel. The works commenced on Monday morning - we removed the existing floor and pews before fitting the floor and after we had the floor fitted the pews were reinstated and walnut beading fitted to the perimeter. We also installed a commercial entrance mat and trims to meet tiles at the alter – All complete for Friday in plenty of time for Saturday mass.
